About Our Firm

Vex Law, LLC is a locally owned and operated law firm established in 2013. We offer proactive and cost-effective legal services addressing all issues and disputes related to the New Jersey Workplace. In-Depth Experience

Howard Vex brings over three decades of comprehensive labor and employment law experience to bear on his clients’ unique and important legal matters. He currently represents and defends numerous public and private sector organizations in disputes pending before the Federal and State Courts and before a wide variety of governmental agencies. Howard regularly handles matters before the Public Employment Relations Commission, National Labor Relations Board, Office of Administrative Law, Division of Civil Service, Division of Pensions, Division of Worker’s Compensation, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, New Jersey Division on Civil Rights, and both the U.S. and N.J. Departments of Labor. Howard has also served as Labor Counsel for over twenty New Jersey municipalities, school boards, public libraries and county agencies, as well as numerous public employee bargaining units. He has been regularly selected by management and labor to serve as an NJSBA Arbitrator to resolve complex public sector workplace disputes.

Howard graduated from Cornell University's School of Industrial and Labor Relations and Rutgers Law School - Newark, where he concentrated his legal studies on labor and employment law.  Howard serves on various Boards, including his service as the 2012-2013 President of the Sussex-Warren Human Resource Management Association, the Northwest New Jersey chapter of SHRM, which represents close to 300,000 of the Nation’s top human resource professionals.  He also regularly authors articles on a wide variety of labor and employment law topics and is an active presenter, participating in the following programs:

About Our Team -

Jonathan Meyers, Esq., Of Counsel

Jonathan Meyers is Of Counsel with our Firm. Mr. Meyers has been practicing law since 2000 and spend much of that time as an integral part of the labor and employment department of one of the nation’s largest law firms. Mr. Meyers also currently serves as an Adjunct Professor of Employment Law at Kean University and previously at Seton Hall University’s Graduate School of Communications.

Mr. Meyers received his bachelors’ degree from Bucknell University and his law degree from Wake Forest University School of Law. He is admitted to the New Jersey Bar and the New York Bar. Additionally, Mr. Meyers is admitted to the United States Supreme Court, 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals, 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals, the U.S. District Court, District of New Jersey, and the U.S. District Courts for Southern, Eastern, Western and Northern Districts of New York. Mr. Meyers has also been named to New Jersey and New York Superlawyers lists at various times over the past decade.

Highlights of Mr. Meyers’ legal practice history include:

  • Successfully arguing against cert. before the United States Supreme Court, in an employment discrimination lawsuit. (Riddle v. Liz Claiborne, Inc., 129 S.Ct. 405, 172 L.Ed.2d 296 (2008));

  • Obtaining victory for a client in a non-compete lawsuit, following a 2-day hearing involving testimony more than half a dozen witnesses.  (B.O. Technology, L.L.C. v. Dray, 2013 WL 3770689 (N.Y. Sup. Ct. Nassau Cty. June 27, 2013)) 

  • Obtaining an appellate victory that has become a landmark decision in New York, to which courts and attorneys now look for guidance in interpreting fundamental employment law and class action issues. (Shah v. Wilco Sys., Inc., 27 AD 3d 169 (1st Dept; 2005));

  • Securing substantial settlements in employment-based class actions

  • Obtaining victories for clients at a variety of trials, hearings, and arbitrations;

  • Gaining uniquely valuable experience by litigating a multitude of employment-based claims, in New York and New Jersey, involving one of the largest private employers in the world; and

  • Negotiating severance and pre-litigation settlements relating to high-income employees.

In addition to being a skilled negotiator, Mr. Meyers has years of experience handling lawsuits before courts and arbitrators, and with matters with government agencies such as the EEOC, OSHA, New Jersey Division on Civil Rights, New York Division on Human Rights, the United States Department of Labor, and various state departments of Labor.  Mr. Meyers has also published articles, participated in various speaking engagements, and given online CLE lectures for Lawline.com.  Mr. Meyers is an active member of the National Employment Lawyers Association (“NELA”) and the Worrall F. Mountain American Inn of Court.
